the first responder is a thief, and the second one is unnecessarily involved (and i work in the Professional GPS industry). All you need to do is purchase a Garmin ETrex series unit. The Legend or the Vista should do you nicely. Buy a used or refurbished one on ebay for super cheap and buy the same exact one from a store like walmart and return the refurbished one to the store and tell them you just bought this and it looks used. They will take it back and you get to keep the new one! I started out with a Magellan 300GPS that I picked up at a thrift store. When I could afford a bit more, I found a GPS companion on Ebay for an older Palm, then found a second-hand Tungsten T that works with it at a local salvage shop. I use Cetus GPS on the Palm and it works like a charm.

If you go this way, make sure the palm has a display that is readable in direct sunlight. The Tungsten T is, but some aren%26#39;t

Total right now is about $60
