i know if u put your cingular/att sim card in an unlocked sidekick and it will allow u to call and recieve calls. but if i were to sign up for a plan with internet and text (their media package) would i be able to do both?

Nope--they come in pairs. It is possible but NOT an open option right now for the U.S. cusomers in the monopolized cell industry of the U.S. You can just have a phone for internet and email but not text and voice seperate through another provider. Basically, no chopping and blocking!
