Remove the SIM card from the device.

NOTE: Do not re-insert the SIM card until instructed.

Clear the user flash settings:

Press the Jump button to access the Jump screen.

Press the Menu button.

Select Settings.

Select System Info.

Press and hold Menu + Shift + X at the same time.

Verify that a prompt appears: %26#39;Are you sure you want to erase your flash settings?%26#39;

Select Erase.

Perform a hard reset.

Re-insert the SIM card back into the device.

Verify that the device reboots.

You%26#39;re going to have to call Customer Services and have the old username detached from the device. I had to do the same thing when i bought my SK3 off of ebay and the old username was still attached to the device. turn it off then back on before starting all that

Besides a labtop and Iphone what portable cool tech toy could I use to surf the net while on a month

I want something that%26#39;s not as big as my laptop and the Iphone

is just a bit pricey and all I want is the net surfing access anyway.

Just be glad you are going on a month long trip, and don%26#39;t use the internet. For fun though the new PSP looks awesome, very slim and faster, longer battery life. So that%26#39;s a start. I traded my DS for a PSP, and glad I did. The DS games are too kiddish.

There is a mobile phone called the "XDA Orbit", which contains Windows Mobile 5.0. With that technology I can wirelessly read my e-mail via my mobile phone. However the phone costs about ￡250, I only want the phone for that reason.I won%26#39;t be using it to make calls etc. I just want a device with "push technology" that will alert me when I receive an email, however that doesn%26#39;t charge "per message", because otherwise it would work out expensive for me.

You might be better off with a Blackberry, rather than a Windows-based PDA phone. The main function of a Blackberry is to receive e-mails on your phone. I haven%26#39;t used one myself, but I have a friend with one, and she swears by it.

However, if you%26#39;re set on a PDA phone, there are cheaper models in the XDA range, or second hand models on eBay. I bought a second hand XDA Exec for under ￡120, and I don%26#39;t know how I lived without it.

However, if all you really want is the wi-fi functionality, you might be better off with a simple wi-fi PDA. There are some really nice ones on the market, and they%26#39;re generally cheaper than a smartphone. If you don%26#39;t want it to phone with, get a PDA.

A lot of them comes with a Windows OS on them and a wireless card built in. Using that , you can connect to the wireless Network and set a special tone to play when you get an email.

HTC is the mother manufacturer of the phones mostly, but PDAs can be done by many, Dell has a few models too.

What you have to pay extra for is the plan. I know T-Mobile, Sprint and Cingular/AT%26T all have special Blackberry plans that include all you need to work your BB, Internet, IM%26#39;s, etc.

I just purchased a Blackberry 8700g unlocked for T-Mobile network. My questions is how do I get the My Faves software on my Blackberry? I called T-Mobile and they said that only certain phones can access the My Faves feature, however I have read that all you need to do is download the software and sync it to your Blackberry.

You will be able to make and receive calls and send SMS(text) messages. You can%26#39;t download ringtones unless you have the internet. You can%26#39;t get your emails without the internet. There is a messenger that can be downloaded from the blackberry web site thru the phone. Again you will have to have the internet for it to work.

The Blackberry 8800 is the current best of class blackberry on the market. It has all the capabilities of the previous models and keeps up with the traditional full sized qwerty keyboard.

If you were a blackberry user, something that takes getting used to is the lack of the trackwheel on the right side of the device. It%26#39;s replaced with a trackball in the middle - like a treo or a blackjack look. That takes some getting used to. Also the keys seem a bit softer to the touch - which is good for carpal tunnel syndrome sufferers like myself.

It has Push to Talk embedded, which is a pretty cool feature that the GSM devices have promised for 16 months and haven%26#39;t delivered until now. It also has voice dialing, which isn%26#39;t new to cell users, but is very new to blackberry users.

Besides that, the screen is crystal clear, it has the ability to add memory, and the battery lasts longer than any of the 87xx class devices I used.

Does anyone know weather or not there are SD Card (Games) available for the Blackberry 8830? I know that I can download games from vandango, but I%26#39;m interested in using the Micro SD Slot instead.

I don%26#39;t believe you can run programs off the SD card. The SD card can only really be used for storing muisc, video, images and for browser cache.

SD card access is much slower than accessing the internal memory of the device.

Blackberry address book?

I just bought this Blackberry 8700c refurbished and i transfered my contacts over from my old pin into my new address book but i cant see them when i open my address book. I still have to access the sim card phonebook. I%26#39;ve tried a few different ways and the manual is unhelpful. Does anyone know how to fix it? Also i have this weird "data connection refused" on my main screen. Any fixes?

data connection refused means a few possible things.

1 - you might just need to reset the device. In this case, pull the battery out and the SIM, count to 10 and put them back. That fixes it in about 70% of the cases

2- ATT (the 8700c is from ATT/Cingular) is notorious for screwing up accounts on "accident" and sometimes when step 1 doesn%26#39;t work, you have to call them and make sure the data provisioning is turned on.

You will also need to copy all your addresses from your SIM to your device. It should be in the address book options. Short of that, ATT can do it for you - call *611 (or talk to them if the data connection refused thing doesn%26#39;t go away and ask them how to do this).

You need a data plan. If you are on with Cingular/AT%26T, I think it is called "media works/data unlimited" - $29.99 a month. That is the way to go. No overage charges. Unlimited text messaging, SMS, internet, email, etc.

I just got my new Blackberry Curve up and running. What is this password keeper application%26#39;s purpose. When I first turned it on I entered a user name and password and everything. Put now when I try and open the password keeper up it is saying its wrong. I have tried 7 times and it is saying I have used 7 out of 10 tries. What happenes if I don%26#39;t get it figured out? The curve is a high end personal phone as apposed to the 8800 which is more business oriented.

The Curve 8300 comes with a camera and easy to use software. Sending text messages, setting up e-mail accounts etc are all very easy.

If you are looking to send allot of text messages this is a great phone. If you want a phone with great features but don%26#39;t need the full keyboard I would go with the Pearl.

Either of these phones are light years better than standard phones like the Razor. These have great sound quality, the screens are very clear and the internet access is good (still no PC but it is a phone).

Blackberry Desktop Manager?

I have Blackberry Pearl, and I downloaded the Desktop Manager (most current version) and I went to run it and it didn%26#39;t work. A window pulls up, but then immediately closes. Whats the problem? I have windows vista, and supposedly compatible, any other ideas to fix?

One thing I might suggest is making sure you have the correct drivers for the pearl. If you don%26#39;t, it might cause the problem you were describing.

What I would do is uninstall the BB DTM first (DTM is short for desktop manager in BB speak). Then make sure the device is disconnected from the PC. Install the DTM then install the driver. Then plug in the device, then run the DTM.

I included a link to the BB page where all the service providers are. You%26#39;ll want to click on your provider%26#39;s link first, then download the newest version of the DTM and the device software.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else You may need to uninstall %26 re-install the download. You should also make sure the OS in the Pearl is compatible with the version of DM you are trying to run. I have Vista too %26 I have no problem with the version I am running. I have had to use the uninstall %26 re-install though. Also, make sure your virus or firewall isn%26#39;t seeing it as a threat. Vista will shut down anything it doesn%26#39;t recognize or it thinks is a threat, but normally you%26#39;ll see a window pop up telling you it was closed.

The "USB charging" message is because you haven%26#39;t installed the BlackBerry software (including the device driver) on your PC. You probably got a CD with your BlackBerry, I recommend installing that software.

However, you don%26#39;t need to install the software to get the pictures off your Pearl.

On your Pearl, choose "Options" then choose "Media Card". You want to turn "Mass Storage Mode Support" to "On", and you want to turn "Enable Mass storage when connected" to "Yes".

Then when you connect your Pearl to the computer, it should show up as an external disk drive.

BlackBerry Pearl 8100?

When I try to transfer music into my Pearl I get a message that says: "The selected device is read only. Please select a device with write access and tryagain."

the files are not read only when I check in properties. I%26#39;ve also tryed using windows media device transfer, for music, it does not work.

And what does it mean by write access?

I tell all my users to goto Handango.com. All apps for the Blackberry end up there.

There%26#39;s Shopblackberry.com too - but that%26#39;s for physical things. If you want it to look cool on the outside that would be the place to go.

I would also very incredibly strongly suggest getting google maps for your blackberry. The link on the source area should be typed into your BB browser and download from there. It is the best app I have had on my BB in 4 years of using one.

My blackberry pearl recently stop showing my pics and wont play my Ringtones, when I press to play it says "Unable to Display File" and it does the same with my pics. If anyone knows the solution please help.

Blackberry Pearl battery life?

I got a shiny red Blackberry Pearl a little less than a month ago, and need to know if this is common or if it%26#39;s just my phone. The battery dies nearly every day.

I%26#39;ll put it on the charger before I go to sleep to let it sit there overnight, though I notice that when it%26#39;s charged, the "plugged in" symbol disappears. It%26#39;ll be fully charged (or, the battery life symbol will be full) when I get up in the morning, but by 1pm it%26#39;s halfway down, and by 7 it%26#39;s blinking and ready to die. All this is even without accessing the internet, playing a game, or even making a call.

I went and got a new battery put into it, but it%26#39;s still dying daily. Common phone problem, or should I go get the whole thing replaced?

Talk time on the Pearl is 3.5 hours, but if it%26#39;s doing that without you making any calls, accessing the internet, it%26#39;s def the phone. Take it back to where you bought it from(if still under 30 days) and get a new phone. Within the first 30 days the retailer that you purchased it from, has to exchange it for you. After that, you have to do the exchange by mail. Their number is 1-800-801-1101. This is free of charge! Mine does the same thing. I just purchased a second battery so I can interchange the two batteries should I need to. The added applications being run on the Pearl use battery life too. Well the battery is a con to having the pearl but you should try letting the phone completely drain down then charge do this for a week and it keeps your battery strong. It worked for me so maybe you could try that.

i had this same problem. i tried to figure out which one i wanted. luckily for me i work at cingular and got to try each of them before i bought it. i liked the blackjack much better than the pearl as far as using it and its features. but i do like the look of the pearl a little better. but i ended up getting the blackjack and i havent regretted it. the blackjack is only available for at%26t though so you wont be able to get it through t-mobile. Samsung Blackjack. get the curve, blackjack is a PITA and pearl is too small

Blackberry Pearl question on wallpaper size?

How do I enlarge the wallpaper photo to make it full screen? My photo is cut off...I want the entire screen to have the photo. And is there a way to move the icons so you can actually SEE the photo good without them being in the way...don%26#39;t want to hide them though...thanks.

Go to media, then pictures, then wherever you store your pictures (media card or device memory). Find the picture click on it to enlarge it then click on %26#39;set as wallpaper%26#39; that should do it!

I just got a new blackberry pearl from AT%26T , I have few issues / questions about it

1. The screen is not as bright as it should be , it seem like it is in saving power mode but even if I press any button , it should get brighter but it%26#39;s not , is it normal ? Sometimes it just suddenly got bright while I am doing something on my phone for awhile

2. When you are pressing buttons the backlight should be on , but sometimes it comes on like after 5 seconds , sometimes it comes on when it wants to come on , why is that ?

The Curve has a regular qwerty keyboard, so I would think that would be easier for typing. All BB%26#39;s have built in capability to synch data for an address book and calendar with the most popular software, like Outlook for example.

As for editing Word docs, you will need a third party software such as eOffice or at least eWord. You can purchase it from Handango. blackberrys do not work with word. You need a dash or treo to use word. Blackberrys give you instant emails and are great for contacts and task. But microsoft word or excel will not work on it. So if you are looking to use the phone as a mini-pc type of device go for a treo.

how do you add games and aplications that you already downloaded onto your computer? and how do you download themes onto your pearl? i already have all this onto my computer... but how do you let your phone read it?

There are 2 ways to add applications/games to a blackberry.

One ways is using the Desktop Manager application that came with your blackberry. To do this you use the Application Loader which looks for .alx and .cod files.

The other is installing software Over The Air (OTA). To do this you must type in the URL where the application is being hosted (i.e. www.test.com/test.jad). Notice that the file extension is .jad. The server must have both the .cod file and .jad files on the server for this to work. The server must also have the proper MIME extensions configured on their server.

Sorry for some of the technical mumbo-jumbo but these are the 2 ways.

Believe me I have had my fare share of problems with this phone. No you should not need a media card to see a pic message! Only to keep them on your phone. If your trying to save it yes but just to view it no! Try checking your settings and see if it is automaticaly sending it to your album. If not take it back it the t-mobile store(asumming you have that because of the album thing.)and they should help you out. Ive been there so many times they are reallly friendly there!! As for the flash player when it tells you to download it click the download button and it has intrustions from there. But also remember that the java script has to enabled. Go the the internet and click the menu key then go to options and then general options. Check the box that says enable java script and that should work. If not again I say t-mobile store! Viewing videos that use Flash Player, like YouTube, are not supported yet on BlackBerries.

I had the same problem. Because I bought my phone on e-bay turns out i didn%26#39;t buy a plan along with it. All you have to do is contact t-mobile and tell them you want to add an unlimited internet plan ($20/mo). You can also add an unlimited texting plan ($14/mo). Basically, without an unlimited internet plan your phone is pretty much useless. However if you are already registered contact t-mobile and tell them whats wrong, they%26#39;ll fix your service.

-misshollywood it means that your data connection( email, internet) is disconneted. take out your sim charge and battery and turn it on. if that doesnt work call your customer service. if you dont have the internet package with your provider then your screen will always read that error message.

Can i use a 4GB Sandisk card with my version 2.6 PSP?

yes you should be able too.did the 2gb card work fine, if it did the 4 gb will work fine too Yeah it i have a sandisk 2GB, not much of a difference, just more space I believe with your version you may have an issue. I have found a link on Sony.com that shows Version 2.7 fixed a issue where some issues of reading larger than a 2GB memory card was happening. Can I use a PDA as a handwriting input device for a PC? Which software do I need?

Three days ago, I discovered OneNote and I love it. One of the great things is the possibility to add handwritten marks to text (like underlining words, putting notes on the margin etc). But there is a problem. My notebook%26#39;s display is not touch sensitive, and it is already painful to underline something using a mouse - writing notes is plainly impossible. I know I can spend 80+ Euros on a handwriting input device, but last year I already spent 300 Euros for a Palm Tungsten T|X and it does have a pen input capability. Now, you will agree, it makes no sense to paint a line on the PDA, save it as a file, export it to the PC, and insert it into the OneNote file. So what I want to know is: IS THERE A SOFTWARE WHICH MAKES MY PC RECOGNIZE THE PALM AS AN INPUT DEVICE? Just like the DriveMode software makes my PC recognize the Palm as a storage device converting it effectively into a card reader/memory stick combination. Or am I just dreaming? Or missing my chance to sell Palm the idea?

Can I Use Palm E2 and Prepaid Bluetooh Phone to web browse?

Okay i have a palm tungsten e2, i was going to buy this prepaid phone and it has bluetooth, obviously the phone doesn%26#39;t have a data plan so if i use it as a bluetooth modem for my phone will it subtract from my prepaid minutes or it won%26#39;t let me use it or what?

Does your prepaid phone allow you to get on the provider%26#39;s data plan. If so, then the phone may subtract for minutes and charge (deduct @ data rate charges) for bytes downloaded.

To see if you can use your phone as a wireless modem for the E2, you will have to see if the phone and E2 can establish a Bluetooth connection between each other.

You will need some kind of browser for the E2 also, if you can establish BT communications between the PDA and cell phone.
