i have a blackberry pear from cingular. the battery completely died and now when i plug it in the charger it either does nothinh or displayed a screen with a dead battery and a red dash through it, implying that i have a dead battery. do cell phone batteries just die completely? will cingular give me a new one?
Answers:
Yes Batteries die. My recomendation for replacement battery would be to try the following in the order or priority
1. See warranty. If under warranty cingular may be able to swap out the battery with new at store (I know sprint provides its own warranty and used to do this)
2. Contact manufacturer for warranty (if still in warranty).
3. Contact cingular, thell them you need a new phone or a battery, since otherwise you cannot use the service, they may just make an exception and give you the phone or battery.
4. Buy battery on Ebay... Make sure you buy new OEM only. unfortunately yes they do my guess is its a lithium ion battery - it has a charge control circuit built into the battery itself and if it detects a fault, it%26#39;s game over I%26#39;m afraid!
in terms of getting a replacement - you can try you may be lucky if its relatively new but its a bit like getting your car dealer to fill your car with petrol isn%26#39;t it? you ahve a 1 year manfacterer warranty.. so you might want to contact RIM NOT Cigular.
But to make it faster and less of a hassle... go to your local Cigular store and buy a new battery... there like 40-60$$
and yes phone batteries can die... RIP to your battery They do. We have had many of our batteries do that with our razrs from cingular. They will not give you another. You will have to buy one. Yes, cell phone batteries can die completely beyond repair. Your provider should be able to help, but you will probably have to buy a new battery unless your current one is found to be defective. Sometimes it%26#39;s almost less expensive to replace the phone.
